Blogs From Kuwait
It is always nice to read options from those who live in the same area or region as yourself. Through a website called kuwaitblogs (aggregated link here), which I managed to find from the wonders of Google, I have came across some sites that have caught my eye. Instead of listing them all at once, I will share three with you: one I have read for a while, one I have just started to read, and one from a friend.
I have followed this blog for approximately 2 years. Movie, restaurant, store, car, airplanes, lions, tigers, and bears (Oh My!)… That was an exaggeration (or was it), but seriously, I have found so many “places” in Kuwait that I would have never known about if not for Mark and his blog. I even learned today that I can go skydiving in Dubai for 74KD. Seriously, you must check it out.
And the next link I present to you is a new find for myself.
I came across this blog a few days ago and it immediately stood out to me. The very first post I saw was talking about speaking both Arabic and English while in conversation. It was referred to as Kuwaitilish. Being someone who learned English as a first language, and engaged to someone who learned Arabic as a first language, I could not help to comment and continuing to see what this site has to offer. What I did not expect was a blog with a podcast, but yes, it is there! I urge you to listen to the episodes.
For my final referral, I shall point you in the direction of someone I have known almost as long as I have been here in Kuwait.
Sou is unique. Alot of the suggestions I get from things to watch or music to listen to come from her. Recently she gave me a book called Bliss Street and a workbook for my fledgling Arabic writing. I could describe her, and her blog, but I think she painted an accurate description of herself, so I will link you to that. Check out her “Who’s Sou” page.
I hope you enjoy these three links as much as I do. Use google, blog repositories, or if you want more blogs concentrating on Kuwait, check out Kuwaitbogs. This blog is not there yet. I want to accumulate more posts.
