The Perfect Gift?
Another year and another Valentine’s Day has came. Everywhere in the world people are trying to find the perfect gift for their loved one. Some choose the luxurious route while others choose something simple. Chocolates and cards, as well as roses, are often the gift of choice on this occasion. I am in a position like so many others around the world, but we are still in the minority. My loved one, Lana, is not with me yet, so I had to go another route and examine other options. I didn’t choose an e-card. They are far from thoughtless, but I didn’t feel they could truly convey how I feel to her. I chose not to mail a gift, because even if it is permanent, it is only material. The things people remember most in life are the way you make them feel. I wanted a gift that would touch her heart and make her feel truly loved. I decided to write her a poem, which I have chosen to share here. Keep in mind whenever you give someone a gift of words, or everytime you say something: “It is not the things you say, but the way you say it, and the way you make people feel.”
If forever came tomorrow
I’d give it all away
I’d trade my chance in paradise
To have another day
To kiss your lips
To smell your hair
To keep you safe from fear
To see you smile
To make you laugh
To hold you very near
I know we have forever
And a life together to live through
But if forever came tomorrow
I’d still want one more day with you.
