Free-weight Equipment in Kuwait

My wife and I have recently found a new place to stay, and with one of the extra bedrooms we are going to make a home gym.  I went out looking for something pretty specific: a weight bench.  That is all I was looking for.  I was shocked to find that at several locations, one of which was Ace hardware, that the weight bench itself (including leg attachment and preacher-curl attachment) was 99KWD!  That is $377!  I can buy an extremely nice bench with that much in the states, and possibly weights as well.

The sad part about this is that most of the benches felt cheap as can be.  If you wanted a bench with a full set of weights (not steel or metal, but rubber coated), it woud cost 199KWD.  That is insanely overpriced!  I might just have to continue doing body weight exercises!

I was told of a sports store right behind Avenues Mall at the roundabout.  I will check there this weekend.

I don’t know who has been giving you advice but Ace Hardware and the other place u r going to (nasser sports) are not the best places to find equipment. Pass by Sport Corner in Salmiya, they have a bunch of stuff in the basement and Sears in Farwaniya have a weight lifting section.

Thanks for dropping by Mark. Nasser Sports was recommended by someone I work with, and Ace I had ventured into to look around in. I haven’t made it up to the Salmiya area yet to look around. Where about is the Sport Corner there?

I’ll check Sears when I go back to Farwaniya. I am going to buy some furniture from that area. Ikea prices tend to be a little rich for my blood.

On another note, you MAY be able to download the books on your personal computer and transfer them to the kindle. Not 100% on that though.

Bro, haven’t you learend that most things in Kuwait are 30% to 300% more expensive than in America .. some merchant’s idea of converting dollars to dinars is just to change the currency sign … like $300 becomes 300KD … this was the case with my Panasonic Video Hard Disc Drive / DVD Recorder. It sells for $300 in the states … we I bought it here for around 290KD ….. horribly over priced … but I had to because of the Color System NTSC vs PAL and Electricity 110v VS 220v. So I say, use your special friends at work to help you order your gym equipment from EU using the Work Co-op … if you know what I mean. Use that catalogue we see at our work co-op. Yalla.

hello ^^ long time since i’ve seen you around..!

I’ve been around and about :D
