I Am Sectless!

Just a piece of info and a small amount of clarification on the previous post.

I, myself, am sectless.  I am not a Shia, Sunni, Sufi, Submissive/er/ion, or anything else.  Choosing a sect breeds ignorance.  I can see the points of view for the different variations, but most say any deviation is wrong.  How do you decide what is right?

“The Shia have extra pillars!”  “The Sunni support the wrong person/prophet/whatever!” “The followers of Submission follow a fake prophet!”  I don’t know about Sufis or anything else.  They were put in to have a list longer then 3 people. Now, on the whole followers of submission thing: I like some of the material on the site and am still cross referencing it in a translated Quran that was NOT done by Rashid Khalifa.  As far as Rashif Khalifa being a prophet/messenger/whatever… no way I believe that.  The whole “mathematical miracle” is a little far fetched for me.  I can alter things and prove to you that 3 is the magical number in the universe if so inclined.

The Quran as a single source of religious guidance is something I accept.  The 5 pillars of Islam I accept.  The Prophet Muhammad living his life as specified one should in the Quran (and the books before) is something I accept.

I do not accept worshipping of the prophets, praying 50000000000 extra prays a day to get more “credit.” (Why would Allah reward one who prays a few extra times a day more than someone who does the correct number of prayers, prays with conviction, and cannot pray extra at times due to supporting a family.  Doesn’t sound right.)  The “numerical” truths of the Quran/Bible/Torah are out there too.  (Remeber the statement above.)

I think some of the problems with religion in general, is that alot of people learn religion from heresay instead of from the source.  If you have 20 generations of Christians/Jews/Muslims/etc that are all going off oral tradition, there is going to be a corruption at one point in time.  I try to avoid saying “That’s in the Quran” unless I know for sure it is.  I’d love to be able to say something is in the Bible, but they it may only be in some versions and not others.

So confusing.
