Iran Confirms Nuclear Components

Let me make this very clear:  Iran has (this was mentioned in 2007 as well) has “almost 4,000 uranium-enriching centrifuges” spinning.  This is a component required to make uranium enriched nuclear weapons.  It is used to separate uranium atoms.
Whether Iran does or does not intend on developing nukes is something none of us know.  I [...]

Are the Hadith and Sunna Unnecessary?

It can be made to appear that way.  If the Quran is truly meant to be the last message from Allah and the definitive guide for religion, then why are the Hadith and Sunna necessary?  Why do we need something to interpret the Quran or additional rules to live our lives by?  If the Quran [...]

Photoshop Tutorials

Everyone knows about the potential of Adobe Photoshop.  Many of us use it for the simple task of resizing pictures while others of us may use it to create our very own works of art.  Fortunately, with a program like this, there is ALWAYS more to learn: another technique, point of view, or tool you [...]

Observation: Learning Arabic

Please don’t try to learn to SPEAK arabic solely from a book!! I know I’m not perfect, and yes, my arabic needs tons of work, but when your job involves interacting in the Arabic language, get a real class or an audio self-paced class.
Another suggestion, learn the letters, then the sounds, then learn to speak.  [...]

Colleges With Biology Majors in Kuwait?

There has to be some college with some sort of curriculum with a medical type of focus around here.  Any suggestions for colleges with some sort of medical/biology major, besides KU (if it even has one)?  Looking for a college Lana can get into.  Prices and locations doesn’t matter, as long as it is in [...]

Theft is the Only Sin

From “The Kite Runner,” which also happens to be one of the best movies I have seen in a long time:
There is only one sin, only one. And that is theft. Every other sin is a variation of theft… When you kill a man, you steal a life. You steal his wife’s right to a [...]

To Teflon or Not to Teflon…

…that is the question.  I remember in 2004 the big hubbub about DuPont and teflon.  There was a class-action lawsuit from 50000 or so people and it was settled for $107.6 million.
I’ve read alot of things that say teflon is safe, and others that say it is not safe.  I don’t cook with metal spoons [...]

Roadway Observations (And Responses!)

So many stupid things happen on the roads around here.  These are some of my observations, reactions, and suggestions:
Your car may be more KD then I make in a lifetime, but your stereo sounds like crap.  Turn it down.  Mine sounds 500% better. (It’s stock, but its Bose.  Sounds nice.)
My lights are brighter than yours.  [...]

Sample Briefing

This is one of the recent briefings I sent out to some of our staff.  I have removed portions of it due to names and other specifics, but the general idea is there.  I try to be professional and courteous while still having a little bit of humor when possible to help keep people loose.  [...]

Can You Say Minutes? In Arabic?

This is a fun thing to do to people just learning to speak Arabic, especially native English speakers.  (Yes, it has happened to me).  Ask someone to say minute in arabic.  Now ask them to say minutes.  This is fun when you say it and have them repeat.  And yes, I still can’t pronounce minutes [...]
